Cecile Culp
Mielenz joined the parent education faculty of Shoreline Community
College in Seattle, Washington, in 1982, after five years in university
teaching and administration. In conjunction with her college responsibilities,
she directs a parent cooperative preschool, where she works with
eighty-five parent volunteers each year. Collaboratively, they operate
Woodinville
Family Preschool. As a child development consultant,
Cecile contracts with the Bureau
of Education and Research. Through BER she presents seminars
to preschool and kindergarten teachers throughout the United States
and Canada, for which she received an Outstanding National Educator
award in 2001. In addition, Cecile maintains a private
counseling practice devoted to parents. Her M.S. and
Ph.D. degrees from the Florida State University are in Child Development.
Cecile and her husband are the parents of two daughters and live
in the Seattle area. They enjoy gardening, ethnic foods, and living
in the Pacific Northwest.
